Made Album

My favorite album of all time, The Beatles auto double album turns 40 this year. It was released on 22 November 1968 and although it is officially titled simply The Beatles, is best known as The White Album. "
While not as perfect as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Revolver or Abbey Road (which rank # 2, # 3 and # 4 respectively), I think is spectacular variety makes it more interesting to listen in the long term. I've been listening to The White Album often since he discovered that twelve years ago. And even now, 12 years later, I still discover new things about him. Songs that I used to think that dragged the album a little now in my favorits. It's an album that has just continued to grow on me over the years.
Many have argued that The White Album should have been reduced to a single album. That some of the less perfect songs from the album, as "Bungalow Bill" and "Do not Pass Me By" could (and should) have been fired, along with the experimental avant-garde "Revolution 9". In fact, the producer of the Beatles (George Martin) has become that argument.
I totally disagree with that view. A large part of what gives the album's endearing charm are the songs that have been cut to into a single album. While not listen to "Revolution # 9" each time I play the album, I like to listen when I'm in the mood. It is an experience like no other.
While "Do not Pass Me By" is definitely one of the worst songs of the Beatles, who still has a certain charm. In a Thus, it is charming, almost, because there is a great song. It is fair to hear the other Beatles try to give life to Ringo less than stellar line.
And songs like Paul McCartney is great "Why Do not We Do It In The Road?" & "Pigs". These are the songs that would be unlikely that version of the album alone, but I think it is extremely interesting. Some people call these songs as "filler" just because they are hit singles. I would say to people like that: "Open your ears and your mind." Save your Beatles 1 CD and put in The White Album. It may be harder to hear at first, but is also much more rewarding in the long term.
Not that the White Album has some hits as well. Songs like "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," "Birthday," "Back in the USSR", & "Obladi-Oblada" are all among the Beatles known and most beloved and songs. "Blackbird" and "I Will" are certainly among the most beautiful songs of the Beatles.
The White Album is my favorite album of all time. Not despite the imperfections, not because any of them, but the album as a whole. It is an incredible journey through different types of music. So many different styles but the common thread is the incredible talent Beatles songs. Whether it's "Helter Skelter" and "Julia". "Happiness is a Warm Gun" and "Martha My Dear." This is brilliant music, that has definitely stood the test of time.
Happy Birthday to The White Album! Not all the music sounds so good when it comes to the big four-o.

The Album $19.98 ABBA’s fifth album was a marked step forward for the group, having evolved out of Europop music into a world-class rock act over their previous two albums, they now proceeded to absorb and assimilate some of the influences around them, particularly the laid-back California sound of Fleetwood Mac (curiously, like ABBA, then a band with two couples at its center), as well as some of the attributes of progressive rock. That they did this without compromising their essential virtues as a pop ensemble makes this album seem even more extraordinary, though at the time nobody bothered to analyze it — The Album was simply an incredibly popular release, yielding two British number one singles in “The Name of the Game” and “Take a Chance on Me” (which made the Top Five in America, their second-best showing after “Dancing Queen”), and achieving the quartet’s highest-ever showing on the U.S. LP charts, reaching the Top 20 and selling a million copies in six months. The opening number, “Eagle,” dominated by synthesizers and soaring larger-than-life vocal flourishes, is followed by the more lyrical “Take a Chance on Me,” with its luminous a cappella opening. The whole album is like that, effortlessly straddling hard rock, pop/rock, dance-rock, and progressive rock — though the hits tend to stand out in highest relief, there are superb album tracks here, including the driving, lushly harmonized “Move On” and “Hole in Your Soul,” which provides guitarist Lasse Wellander with a beautiful showcase for his lead electric playing. The second side of the album is dominated by material from a “mini-musical” called Girl with the Golden Hair that Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus wrote for the concerts on their just-ended tour intended to be used in a dramatically coherent storytelling context. Two of its songs, “Thank You for the Music” and “I Wonder (Devotion),” are less exciting than the straight rock material found elsewhere on the album, though the former became a popular concert number for the quartet, while the latter is the kind of lushly melodic, moodily reflective song that could easily have graced a Barbra Streisand album of the era. MADE $18.98 Hip-hop veteran Scarface doesn’t evolve much or waiver from his usual hardcore, minimal sound on his 2007 effort MADE, but that doesn’t mean his loyal fan base shouldn’t eat it up for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. MADE is Scarface doing everything right, delivering those cold, hardcore rhymes over uncomplicated, soulful beats. He’s inspired enough to carry this almost guest-free album on his own, and if anything’s changed about his lyrics, it’s that he’s more willing than ever to show his maturity. On the highlight “Big Dog Status” he tells the younger generation to stop worrying about the price tag of their ride and start thinking about what it takes to stay in the game for life. “Boy Meets Girl” is an insightful story of a hood relationship gone wrong while the bleak “The Suicide Note” wonders how Face’s old neighborhood slipped into hell so fast. Memorable choruses and hooks like the ones found on “Never” and “Dollar” round the album out just enough, although a couple of redundant numbers keep this from being one of his best.
